During 2014 the FIFA World Cup in Brazil, Green Eco-friendly Textiles was capturing media attention around the globe. French newspaper Le Figaro ran a column saying “Taiwan has already won its World Cup.” Taiwan’s manufacturers recycled PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottles and successfully turned the abandoned resource into textiles. And that was more comfortable and sweat-absorbent than cotton. 10 national teams participating in the World Cup, including Neymar & Cristiano Ronaldo, wore it for games.
Actually, in 2010 African FIFA world Cup, Da AI Tech (under world's largest Buddhist charity - TZU CHI) had succeed to manufacture this ECO textiles for 10teams. That greatly encouraged to all Taiwanese textile manufacturers to invest in the processes improvement, from PET bottle recycling/cleaning, plasticing , artex , textiles etc. When most leading manufacturers moved their factories to China in search of lower costs, Taiwanese textile manufacturers — such as Da AI, Ecomax Textile, Eclat Textile.. — had to become innovative and pushed their competitors to edge, in these world class games -- such as FIFA and Olympic Game.
F.D. Hung, the CEO of Da AI Tech (under world's largest Buddhist charity - TZU CHI)
F.D. Hung, the CEO of DA AI said “We recycled at lead 50K tons of PE bottle every year”. 5 bottles could be made into a T-shirt; 35 bottles could be made into a sleeping bag; 40 bottles could be made into a blanket. And 18 PE bottles could be made into a nice Soccer Uniform. Taiwan had shown itself as an exceptional player standing at the head of the “Green ECO Tech” game.
