On April 27, 2016, Kyocera announced the completion of a 284kW solar energy project for Hawaii Tokal International College (HTIC). The project is expected to meet more than 50% of the College’s total electric power requirements. This is not a surprise, but it evokes the image of Kyocera Solar panel Phone screens immediately.

Barbara Speed-- a technology and digital culture writer at the New Statesman – she put “Solar Panel Phone Screens” at the first priority on her prediction article, “The best new technologies (probably) arriving in 2016”.  Yes, Japanese company – Kyocera made it out now.

Kyocera has been working on Solar-powered Display for mobile since 2013.  In Feb/2016, they launched the new model- 5-inch phone display, which had a 'photovoltaic' layer integrated into the screen. This power-generating display layer --called WYPSIPS Crystal, was connected to a chip that managed and converted solar energy into power, in order to convert into battery power.  This WYPSIPS crystal is 8 times efficacy than before. But it still takes 3 minutes charging time for 1 minutes talking time only.  You can use it as “topping up your Phone battery “. This is a great improvement on the battery management system, since we are tied up by the mobile in modern life. And mobile battery is a bugbear of power shortage and a burning risk during cable charge.

In spite, there are some comments on this extra photovoltaic, which has no effect on touchscreen responsiveness and too heavy, we are eagerly looking forward its coming because it is not only meaning “Zero Cost” for charging any time, but also a most safe and ECO way to charge battery invisibly.
