From the Fall of Icarus, a man may fly too close to the sun and fall if you give him wings.  Will a robot be like their creators if it is given extra abilities?  Well, the answer may be positive.  It may run away from us if we give it legs.

On Tuesday, June 14, a robot escaped from a lab and stuck in the middle of the road with a dead battery.  It then caused a traffic jam.  The escaped robot has autonomous movement and was developed by a Russian company called Promobot.

According to Promobot, the reason of the escape was that an engineer forgot to close the gate after he left.  When the robot saw that, it left quietly and drove fifty meters away, then stopped in the middle of the road with a dead battery.  It paralyzed the traffic but luckily no one got hurt.

The police later arrived there and tried to put traffic in order.  After forty minutes of the escape, the Promobot engineer discovered the disappearance of the robot and rescued the robot.

The incident went viral in these couple of days, though some local media doubted the escape was not an incident but a fabricated marketing plan to generate publicity and show the capability of the robot.  It is reported that the Promobot is designed as an interactive robot which can help people with navigation, answers any questions, and act autonomously.

Whether it was true or not, Promobot had successfully raised attention globally of its positioning system.  After all, the robot did not bump into anybody and was not damaged.
